- Become a runner.
- More yoga. Less kickboxing and elliptical.
- Find happiness.
- Make my house a home.
- Drink more water.
- Keep blogging.
Those would be my 2010 Resolutions from January. The nice thing about having a July 1st birthday is that you had a solid half way mark to take notice of how your year is going.
Another nice thing about July 1st birthdays? You tend to get away with celebrating them from the first of the month until at least July 4th. And if you’re really talented like me, you get away with extending the celebration before and after those dates. More on that on Monday…
I’m feeling pretty good about my progress on many of these. My ability to jog is much improved since the beginning of year. I can run/jog for minutes on end now and take walking breaks much more infrequently. We’ve decorated a guest room and a bathroom in our house. Sure I fell of the yoga bandwagon back in March, but it was going well for awhile there!
But since I’m one of those who focus on tasks better when they are in “to-do list” form, I’m presenting my list of The Big 2-7 To Dos:
Rock a 5K before Labor Day. This time, I’m making a formal training plan. I’m sticking to that training plan and I’m GOING TO THE RACE that morning. I need to stalk active.com and the Hermes Sports & Events websites a bit, but I have some ideas in store…
Start attending yoga class at Nishkama Yoga at least once a week. I have a hot new Lululemon yoga mat and head ban – it’s time to use them! I will stop using the excuse of “I hate 9:30AM class times”! Suck it up and eat breakfast after, Alicia!
Buy a new water bottle and lots of lemons. My Nalgene bottle emblazed with my sorority symbol and letters is looking quite sad these days. I suppose five years of wear and tear would do that to anyone. Also, I’ve noticed I tend to chug water when there’s lemon in it. Thank God you can get a huge bag of them at Marc’s on the cheap!
Redecorate the kitchen already. By the end of the year, I pledge to have a kitchen that truly inspires me to cook and create culinary masterpieces on a regular basis.
Figure out the next step in my journey as a blogger. As you know, I bought my domain name. (Have you updated your Google Readers/blogrolls?! It’s http://poiseinparma.com just in case!) But now what? Do I keep using the WordPress model? Do I invest in self hosting? Do I join Foodbuzz.com’s Feature Publisher program? Do I travel to some food blogger conventions to learn and network? Did you know there was so much going on behind the scenes?!
On the celebration of yet another year on this crazy planet, it’s nice to take a moment to remember how easy it is to get caught up in the drama of daily life. So finally I’m asking you, faithful readers, for my 27th birthday present from you to me: please join me in this final task: to remember the mantra of 2010: “Be happy. Be healthy. Just be.” Because life flies by far too quickly to fill it with guilt and anxiety all the time. Fill it with all those things that bring you joy – birthdays and all those days between them are FAR MUCH MORE enjoyable that way!!!
