Ryan and the wonderful folks at POMwonderful sent me a fun care package earlier this month:
That cardboard box was filled with eight bottles of joy!
Ryan checked out the blog one day and offered to send me a case of POM 100% pomegranate juice. It’s been chilling in my fridge for the right moment. When my mom announced her Memorial Day cookout plans, I decided what better way to use all those cute bottles than by pairing them with some glorious alcoholic spirits!
From their website, I gravitated towards the POM Highball: a mix of Pomegranate Juice, gin and Lemon San Pellegrino:
Even Hans got into the spirit and made his own POM creation: a combo of POM pomegrante juice, gin and ginger ale. It was a combination of my POM Highball and their recipe for a POM Fizz:
But what really knocked off everyone’s socks was our POM Sangria that I threw together that morning. I used this recipe by Bobby Flay as a starting point for inspiration. I made it my own and the ingredients ended up as such:
- 1 bottle of red wine
- 2 cups POM 100% pomegranate juice
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup whiskey
- 1 can of Sprite
- 1/4 cup simple syrup
- one apple
- watermelon chunks (I didn’t measure, I just kept throwing them in!)
- two HUGE strawberries
We grabbed our drinks and enjoyed the holiday!
A HUGE THANK YOU to Ryan and all the wonderful folks at POM Wonderful for making our Memorial Day BBQ nice and fruity! Make sure to check out POM Wonderful on Facebook and on Twitter! If you are lucky, they might just send you a package of their tasty product too!
