HEY CLEVELANDERS! Spring has sprung and I’m ready to leave the house for a night on the town! There’s a ton of great stuff going on around the CLE:
Cleveland International Film Festival: I owe a big shout out to Alexa over at cleveland’s a plum: I won a few passes in a recent giveaway on her blog. Thanks again to a great CLE blogger! My bro and I can’t wait to use the passes this week!
It’s time to get my hiking shoes on as the trails of the Cleveland Metroparks are great this time of year. Some of my favorites are out at the Hinckley Reservation, where those famous Hinckley buzzards just returned to roost. I understand that Buzzard Sunday (which was this past Sunday the 21st) is quite the event, with people coming from across the country to see the birds that ALWAYS return on March 15th on the dot. And I thought I made excellent travel plans – these birds have it down to a science! It’s the offical kickoff to spring for the area’s residents. My mom and dad have attended a “Buzzard Sunday” party for the past few years that is attended by at least 200 people every year!
Speaking of my mom, what are we looking forward to this Spring? The return of this man:
Michael Buble doesn’t know it, but him and my mom have been unofficially dating for awhile now. He’s on my mom’s “front door” list: if he showed up at the front door begging her to run away with him, she’d be gone before she could say “Bye Andy!”. BTW: George Clooney is also on this list. Tom Cruise was removed from said list when he started jumping on Oprah’s couch. Moving on…
When Michael was here in April 2008, my mom and I had ROCKIN’ seats twelve rows back on the center aisle. When we heard CLE was on this tour, we purchased tickets during the pre-sale. We managed decent seats for this one and my mom has been counting down the days since. His opening act from the last tour Naturally 7 is returning for this tour, which I’m excited about – it’s always nice to look forward to the opening act as well as the main event!
John Soeder at The Plain Dealer wrote a fun preview article for the concert this evening at Cleveland State University’s Wolstein Center. My favorite part of the article is obvious:
After the gig, chances are you’ll find him going for a run on a treadmill, not partying. “The longer I’ve done this, the more sober I’ve gotten,” he said. “I used to come off and have a nice Scotch. Now, I have to be a lot more disciplined, I guess. I’ve realized that you’ve almost got to be an athlete up there. You can’t mess around too much. I want my voice to be strong, and I want my head to be in the right place.”
Anytime I get to hang out with my awesome mom is something I look forward to doing! It’s gonna be one fun night! NOW SOMETHING FOR YOU TO LOOK FORWARD TO: after some recommendations by some great Cleveland bloggers, we’ll be going to Flying Fig in Ohio City for dinner before the concert – another restaurant review will be on the way!
