As I shared a few weeks ago, one of my favorite all around athletes is Apolo Ohno: OLYMPIC CHAMP and all around good guy!
Alright, I’m assuming the second part of that statement, but even reputable news outlets agree. The New York Times ran this article – Ohno Stakes Claim as U.S. King of Winter – this weekend about his success on the ice, as well as in life because of his character as a human being. When a competitor called him out in an interview, Ohno refused to cause further controversy by commenting on those comments. Stay classy, Apolo. (And take note, Tiger Woods.)
…and if that article wasn’t enough, imagine my joy while on the elliptical to discover this Apolo Ohno interview in this month’s Women’s Health magazine. Talk about motivation to work harder during a workout!
More of my favorites from these Olympic games include:
- the opening ceremonies: Nice job Canada! LOVED the “great plains” segment.
- the men’s figure skating finals: sure, I’m lame and fell asleep before everyone skated, but thanks to the glories of the internet, I caught up!
- Shawn White’s mad skills in the halfpipe: what that man can do on a snowboard is beyond me! You’ll find me waiting at the ski lodge sipping a latte, thank you.
- the P&G “You’ll Never Walk Alone” commercial: honoring moms for everything they do:
Thank you P&G for being an excellent selector of timeless classics from the American musical catalogue for your advertisements.
Am I Olympics obsessed? Maybe. Inspired? Most definitely.
