TODAY’S POINT OF BALANCE: Personally, I’m not so sure about this panel saying women should start mammograms at 50, Not 40. Some are saying it’s a way for insurance companies to save. We all know at least one 40-something who benefited from this exam. I found out today that one of my work contacts was just diagnosed and has to have surgery immediately. All the more reason for ALL OF US at ANY AGE to remember to keep doing monthly breast exams.
Last night right before bed, I grabbed my new found love: a bunch of spinach, all rolled up in a piece of turkey with some salsa:
Today is Hans’ bday! This is what he woke up to this AM:
My breakfast was a staple of mine: Spicy, savory oats – it’s been far too long!
Made with 2/3 cup oats, a 1/2 babybel cheese wheel, water, one jumbo egg, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and garlic powder. Every time I make this, I forget how good it tastes!
The work day FLEW by – which was a bad thing considering how much I have to do now that I’m back from vacation! Around 11:30AM, I made a mug of Lipton Honey Tea and grabbed a handful of baby carrots to hold me over as I knew the lunch bunch wouldn’t meet until at least 1PM today. Lunch was an old standby of a ham sandwich on WW with low-fat cheddar, tomato, spinach and mushroom. That’s a honeycrisp apple with it 🙂
The afternoon flew by as fast as the morning. Around 5PM, I grabbed another handful of baby carrots to fuel me for another half an hour of work that I had to get done before leaving for home.
Tonight we’re having some friends of Hans’ over for the Cavs game. We have the usual chips, pretzels, salsa and pizza available, but I couldn’t resist to take advantage of my leftover turkey/veggie mix from last night. This time I had what I really wanted yesterday!
I started by defrosting some frozen broccoli, then heating that up with the turkey/veggie mix in a skillet. Meanwhile, I made some of my favorite WW egg noodles. Once those were al dente, I added a HUGE handful of fresh spinach to the skillet, then put the cooked pasta on top of that, and heated the entire mess until the spinach was wilted. Sprinkled with some parm, it was EXCELLENT and hit the spot. Now I’m satisfied and the boys have one more slice of pizza to eat!
All I know is that there is pumpkin pie and Christmas Ale in my house. I’m sure SOMETHING else will be consumed today! LETS GO CAVS!
