Today’s POINT OF BALANCE: a tip snagged from the Healthy Eats nutrition news reading list for this week: A Healthy Home Can Help Keep the Weight Off:
“A new study published in Annals of Behavioral Medicine compared obese people trying to lose weight to those who were successful. Those who lost weight (and kept it off for at least five years) were more physically active and controlled their eating habits better. But taking a closer look inside their homes, researchers found the successful group had fewer TVs in their homes, more exercise equipment and not as much high fat-foods in their pantries. This study really drives home the message that how you manage your home really plays a role in your overall health.”
See – I should have cleaned my house yesterday!!! Darn you Daylight Savings Time!
I snacked it up last night with a bowl of popcorn during “The Next Iron Chef”:
This morning’s breakfast was a favorite: SAVORY SPICY OATS!
If you are still doubting this beautiful bowl of food, why haven’t you tried this yet? Fry up one egg, put it over 2/3 cups of oats with a bunch of salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and garlic powder – you’ll be thanking me when you are licking the bowl…
I was so productive today at work – it must have been the breakfast! Lunch at the office today consisted of a ham and cheese sandwich on WW with spinach and sprouts, and a HUGE gala apple:
Pre-workout snack dilemma: energy bar or banana? The stomach was growling, so I went with this bad boy:
Monday’s workout was the usual:
- 25 minutes on the elliptical
- 50 minutes of kickboxing
- 5 minutes walking on the treadmill to bring down the heart rate
- stretching to cool down
Came home to make my “fake chicken parm” for a post workout dinner:
This PASTA TOSS! has:
- 1 cup of WW linguine from Whole Foods
- 2 small pieces of boneless skinless chicken made on the grill (about 1/4 a pound)
- 1/2 white onion
- 1 medium carrot
- a handful of mushrooms
- a handful of spinach
- marinara sauce
- a generous sprinkle of low-fat mozzarella cheese
Now I’m enjoying my huge mug of Sleepytime tea while watching DWTS – a great end to a great day!
